29 AUGUST | LA CASA LATINOAMERICANA

Cinema workshop and screening of Bolivian animation shorts

This event is designed for the whole family to enjoy making cinema craft and then immersing into the creative world of Bolivian animation. It's a perfect opportunity for families to bond over creative activities and explore the rich cultural heritage and artistic expressions of Bolivian filmmaking, animation and storytelling.

In this engaging and creative cinema workshop, film meets craft to explore the narrative skills that characterise human beings. Inspired by images from various films, we will delve into the infinite possibilities that can emerge from a set of pictures arranged in diverse timelines. That is the magic of cinema! We invite children aged 6-12 to explore creativity, imagination and the ability to invent stories with frames and collages. Nevertheless, this hands-on activity is perfect for all ages (parents and carers too!) and provides a unique opportunity to learn the art of cinema.

The workshop will be facilitated by Luisa Mancilla Barrera, a Latinx filmmaker, multimedia artist and film & food events organiser based in London. Her roots are spread across Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela, and she feels moved by themes such as migration, belonging, food, gender, identity, and care work. She holds a Master’s in Documentary Film from UCL and is a Community Administrator at Calthorpe Community Garden. She is also part of errante, a migration and diasporas film collective organising screenings at alternative community spaces in dialogue with other disciplines. Throughout her career, Luisa has delivered workshops for children and teenagers interested in filmmaking: from developing an idea to editing, covering all production phases.
